WBE CERTIFICATION

WBE certifies businesses at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by women. In Arizona it's issued by WBEC-West, the WBENC regional partner covering Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Hawaii, and Southern California — not a city or state agency, which makes it a separate track from DBE and SBE. Here's the part most people miss: WBENC certification can satisfy the SBA's third-party certifier requirement for the federal WOSB program, meaning the same certification reaches both corporate supply chains and federal set-asides. You still file with SBA at MySBA Certifications, but WBENC lets you apply for both at once — so the same documentation does double duty. Unlike DBE, WBENC certification carries a fee and requires annual recertification.
